Any Stove / Oven / Range experts here?

Hi everyone,

We just closed on an apartment, and now comes the renovations.
We need a new Stove/Oven/Range, but the current stove is a "Slide in" (electric)

Went to PC Richards and an electric slide in (with glass top, not coils) was over 1,300!!

Regular electric "stand alone" ranges were about half the price.

My question is, can I stick the stand alone range into where the slide in range was?

I know, the front might stick out a bit, but what other problems could there be?

I'm worried there is some danger to this...perhaps the ventilation will be blocked with a stand alone or some other issue.

Thanks

We just recently ordered a full suite of GE products for our gut/reno at home, ours is Gas range, but still... we paid about $1K after rebates for the range... stand alone range, not slide in. Most of the time, in kitchens, it's a stand alone range, NOT a real slide in. As long as the dimensions are the same you'll be fine.

I hope so...the salesman said something about the vents being different so if we put the stand alone into the slide in area, the vents could be blocked.

That doesn't sound good to me! lol

The salesman is an idiot!!!!!!

They are the same except for the look. Just make sure the dimension fits the spot in your kitchen if you are not changing the layout.

Exactly this... he just wanted to sell you the more expensive product. There is NO difference except that with the stand-alone there are knobs for the oven and the clock and all above the range, while a slide in is more streamlined and has all that on the front above the door.
