Any Powerpoint people around?
Okay, so DH has a presentation to do on an interview tomorrow. Though we both know the basics and have taken classes, neither one of us has done a formal presentation.
We can do a presenation on our computer but DH is a little concerned about the formal presentation. For example, is there any way he can pause the slideshow in the event there are questions that run long? He will rehearse the timings but is afraid an explanation of a slide will go on too long provided there are questions. He is having a hard time worrying about controlling the clicker (remote) they give you as he has never had to use one and is worried about the pauses.
Anyways any pros have any advice they can offer? Can he expect it to go as smoothly and as close to doing his own amateur presentation?
TIA for any tips

I would have someone man his laptop and he can give a nod or rehearse with them so you can go to the next slide manually.
I work in advertising and are ALWAYS giving ppt presentations-- it is always done manually.

At conferences I ALWAYS change slides manually. Timed changes are nice, but you never know when you will want to spend more time on any one point or slide.
Is he bringing a laptop or using one? One time I burned my presentation to a CD only to find that the laptop provided had not CD rom drive! Luckily I had also saved it to a flash drive as a backup.

Thanks for the ideas.
It makes perfect sense that manual would work better.

That's the thing. He has NO idea how it is going to work. They just told him to prepare a powerpoint presenation, thus a lot of the anxiety he has.

I have always done mine manually for the same reasons other posters gave.

if he saves it on a flash drive that is probably the safest way of transporting it. good luck to him! i hate doing stuff when i dont know exactly how everything is going to work.

I agree but it on a flash drive & do it manually. I can't imagine that they would expect a timed presentation during an interview.

Re: Any Powerpoint people around?
When I gave the presentation for my masters thesis, I had it saved on a laptop, burned to a CD and on a memory stick. You cna't be too prepared

I just gave one today and I clicked as I went. I ignore the timed mode because yes, people ask questions!
