Any other DH's do this??

Everytime I vent a frustration to DH -whether it be work, the gym, friends, whatever - he always down plays it.

I tend to get over-anxious and stressed easily so he's gotten used to rebuffing my vents so I see that things aren't such a big deal, but every once and a while I really do just want to vent and he totally puts it down and disregards it... almost makes it seem trivial.

Case in point: I called him w/ a work vent today about how I'm working on a tough project and it depends on a lot of people coming together and I'm not sure if it's going to work and he goes "well, that's your job. Make it work"

Sometimes I just want him to say "wow, hun, that s-cks! Sorry" Chat Icon

Sometimes. Though I don't think (in my case) it's done to minimalize the validity of my angst but an effort to make me feel better.

Often times he'll make a joke or something to lighten up the situation. I love him for it most of the time but there are times when it's not what I need to hear.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I say this thread gets moved to the relationships board in about 5 mins. Chat Icon

Re: Any other DH's do this??

Mine just tries to give me solutions instead of letting me vent - "Well have you tried...?" or "Maybe you should..."

I understand that it's a male/female difference though. I want a listening ear while he wants to solve all my problems. So now I have to straight out tell him when I just want him to listen and sympathize, and keep the commentary about what I should/shouldn't do to himself - works out nicely! Chat Icon
