ANY NYC TEACHERS?? My Prenatal Vitamins arent Covered??

So I went to fill my prenatal prescription and they said they aren't covered.

UFT GHI and Express Scripts?

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong??

GHI is closed so I can't call and Express Scripts doesn't have the answer...they told me to call GHI

im a nyc teacher too and mine werent either but the pharmacy called my drs office and they gave them a similar prescription to fill instead. now i just take otc prenatals- they are all pretty much the same, just make sure they have dha in them.

Wow I'm so shocked! That's so upsetting to me....my DH just started a new job so when I get his insurance card I guess I'll try for secondary coverage.

Mine are covered and I only pay $5. Go on the UFT website and it gives you the list of what's covered. I think mine are called OB elite or something like that.

I took Gesticare DHA for a few years and paid $80 for a 3 months supply Honestly, I don't think it's necessary... I took them for about 2yrs, but knowing what I know now, countless babies are born everyday to women who took OTC prenatals and they are FINE!! Oh .. and when I was pregnant last time and saw my peri in the beginning, he ran tests and saw I still had a bunch of vitamin deficiencies, including iron even though it had a lot since it was a prescription.

It's a personal choice, but my point is.. if you can't find one that's covered for a reasonable price, check out the OTC ones! Baby will me fine and mom will save some money

Some are covered. My pharmacist gave me a generic brand and it was covered and only had to pay $5 as opposed to $35 for the normal brand. It's the same stuff. I now have a new script I need to go through express scripts with so I'll see if this one is covered.

I don't have that but I am a teacher and when I went for my first round of prenatals they said it wasn't covered and I had to pay $90. It turned out that just those weren't covered. I got a script for another one and I pay $10 for three months.

I tried calling again and mentioned some above prenatal names and they still are saying no I'm gonna let out my frustrations on Ghi either tomorrow or Tuesday depending when they are open again.

We get 3 cards, GHI, express scripts, and the other medicine card (name is failing me now).. my husband tried to get his vitamins with the GHI card and they charged him 15 bucks for it and when he realized and gave them the correct card (the pharmacy one) it was only $4.

Just make sure you're using the right card. The prenatals my doctor prescribed are only $10 for a 90 day supply

I take citranatal, and it is covered but I pay $35 a month. I was on a generic a long time ago and it was only $5. They are now making me do the mail order and I haven't tried it yet. I only have to do the mail order because I've been on them for a long time and it's considered maintenance now. Definitely don't call GHI. They are only responsible for diabetes medications and injectibles. The UFT is responsible for everything else.

Mine were covered. Sometimes they would give me generic and sometimes the regular ones. You might have to go through Medco and get them delivered? I would pay 15 bucks and get 3 boxes of them. Check to see which ones are covered and have ur dr give you that script.

SUCH a PIA!!!! Dealing with them was the worst. I always had problems with my blood thinners during pregnancy. SOOOO ANNOYING
