Any info on new boilers?
We have a new oil tank, but an original boiler that is about to go - we keep having issues with it. Any idea how much a new one would cost, and any recommendations and what types of payment plans there are (e.g., how many years to pay off)? Also, does anyone know how much it costs to add another zone in the upstairs? Thanks!

Re: Any info on new boilers?
We just had a new boiler put in this week--it is called a direct vent system where you don't use a chimmney they just have a pipe that goes right outside the house & it is so much smaller than our 1956 one. It cost us $5600 and we went with a plumber so there was no payment plan. You could try sears they seemed to be reasonable and had the payment option. We also asked KEYSPAN because we have gas and they wanted ALOT more money than we paid but had the payment plan. Check with your oil company to see if they have a plan. I am not sure about adding an additional zone because we already had 2.

Re: Any info on new boilers?
If you can get through the winter with this boiler I'd wait until the spring/summer to replace it since they usually give a discount for being off-season. We had our's replaced last June (we also had a 1950's boiler) that cost either $3000 or $3200. We also already had the additional zone so I don't know about that. Our's uses the chimney, though; it's not a direct vent.

Re: Any info on new boilers?
Thanks! I'm going to def try to make it through the winter. We have a contract now, so if there are issues we can at least have someone come fix them - of course as long as the boiler doesn't fail us and die!
