Re: any DC get the flu vaccine and still get the flu?
I've heard the strain that's going around is diffrent than the strains they made the vaccine for this year. My neice and nephew recently got over it, and they both had the flu shot prior.
The flu vaccine is based on a guess, there are thousands of viruses, its meants to protect what CDC guesses will affect us most.
Hope your DD isn't getting sick

It's possible. Happned to my ped and his own daughter.
My kids both had the flu and I ended up in the hospital with my younger son the first night. He was the 19th kid diagnosed with the flu that night and half of them had the flu shot according to the ER dr.

Thankfully no. My DS didn't get the flu after receiving the vaccine.

Re: any DC get the flu vaccine and still get the flu?
DH had the flu last week and now DD is really sick. I'm hoping it's NOT the flu, she was tested on Tuesday and it was negative but then yesterday things got worse (vomitting and diarrhea) in addition to her other symptoms (fever, runny nose, cough) and I'm worried that it's progressed now.

Yes, all 3 of my children got the flu shot and 2 of 3 got the flu confirmed by the "swab" test.
This is the 2nd time this has happened, which is why next year, no flu shots for us.

If she has vomiting and diarrhea - that is not the regular strains of the flu - that is probably something like the stomach flu or maybe strep. The stomach flu is not something that is covered in the flu shot- so they can definitely get that even if they have the flu shot (which only covers the most common guessed strains).
Both girls have gotten their shots - and neither has gotten the flu before.
You can definitely still get the flu if you get the shot - you just won't get the strains that are covered in the shot.
I'm sorry she is not feeling well and hope she is better soon.
I heard some moms at DD's preschool the other day saying that there is a lot of strep going around.
