Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza

We went to the new location in Commack over the weekend, and didn't like it at all. I know it gets rave reviews, but I'm not sure why. I like coal fired pizza, but I thought this was going to be more like a margherita pizza, not one slathered in cheese. Honestly, I'd rather go to a local pizzeria than this chain. Plus, it gave me a horrible stomachache. We won't be going back.

This is good to know...we were thinking of going the other night and decided to wait until the crowds let up a little. Might have to reconsider all together.

Re: Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza

I thought the whole point of coal fired was "well done". I love it. I prefer my crust just about burnt! Chat Icon

But DH hates it! He can't understand it at all! LOL he much rather get a cheaper pie from our regular pizza place!

ETA I also love their chicken wings...hubby hates them too Chat Icon

My friend went there and was very disappointed also! Guess I won't bother to try it out!

I totally agree. I'm all for welldone pizza, but theirs is just charcoaled. We're definitely not fans!

Re: Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza

I didn't mind the "well done" part, but I just thought it didn't taste good.
I didn't have the wings, but DH thought they were good (he wasn't a fan of the pizza either.)

Ugh, yes ITA.

I had the same experience/feelings.

We live on Long Island, in New York, you can't beat the mom & pop pizza places and how great their pizza is -- why did I think I could?! Chat Icon

Their pizza is horrible. Our kids won't even eat it. The only part that is well done is the crust and it's really burnt. The rest is soggy that you have to eat it with a fork and knife. The wings are okay but kind of dry. The only things I like there is the salad and meatballs.

DH loves it, but says I wouldn't because of how well it is done. He says their wings are amazing.

I love their pizza and their wings. We actually went to the new location in Wantagh last weekend. The waitress dropped half of our pizza on a chair when she was putting it on the stand. It got all over my coat, my bag, my daughter's jacket and my DH's phone. Such a mess. But they brought out another pizza so quickly.

Re: Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza

We LOVE Anthonys! My parents introduced us to the one in Carle Place. We were going to the one in Woodbury and now the one in Wantagh. Love everything I have ever tried there. And the staff is ridiculously friendly too.
