anterior placenta???

Anyone have one? At what point did you feel the baby move and/or kick? Anyone have a c-section? What complications does this pose? TIA!!!!!!!

Re: anterior placenta???

I have an anterior placenta, and I only definitely started feeling the baby just before 24 weeks. I felt some flutters and things that I wasn't quite sure of before then, but at 23w6d, I felt some kicks and actually saw my stomach bulge out, so I knew it was real! This was less than a week ago, and since then I feel some strong kicks each day, but still not constantly, just a few times per day.

Re: anterior placenta???

I have it this time around- just started really feeling any movement around 23 weeks.

Dr said my C/S will be harder for him but not to worry about it- no complications should arise.

Re: anterior placenta???

I have one and I think I started feeling her in the early 20 weeks. Now at 28 weeks, there are days where I feel hard kicks and days where it's softer jabs. I guess it depends on her positioning and if she's hitting the placenta directly. Dh has been able to feel her but I guess not as early on as the posterior placenta girls.

Eta: as far as complications, this is my first but from what I've read and doc has said, it doesn't make much of a difference. I haven't discussed cs so I'm not so sure how that affects it.

Re: anterior placenta???

I had an anterior placenta with my first. I started feeling flutters around 20w, but didn't feel real movement until about 26w - and even then it was sporadic Chat Icon DH didn't feel him kick for the 1st time until the night of my shower (which was somewhere around 30w).

I had no complications & didn't have a c-section...the only "problem" was not feeling the kicks Chat Icon

Re: anterior placenta???

I have one this time. Felt occassional movements from 20 weeks. Started feeling steady movement around 28 weeks. Constant movement at 31 weeks. It kind of stinks because I feel like I missed out on a lot.

I am having a c/s and my dr said it doesn't complicate things.

Re: anterior placenta???

i had one and i felt movement as early as 17w but not consistently until about 20w. i felt a lot of movement my entire pregnancy and i didn't even know i had an anterior placenta until i delivered. i did have a c-section but it was due to her being breech and it was an emergency due to pre-e and HELLP at 33w. it had nothing to do with the AP. i did have major placenta issues (i had accreta where the placenta was grown into the uterine muscle) but again, that had nothing to do with AP. i dont think ive heard of anyone who has anterior placenta where they've needed a c-section solely based on it being anterior. if its previa then you would need a section because it would be blocking the cervix.

Re: anterior placenta???

I have one... and I guess I didn't feel definite baby movement until the last couple weeks. (I'm 23w5d) I have felt a lot more in the last week or so.

Re: anterior placenta???

Crashing... I had this, and felt the baby move at exactly 20 weeks. It's normal to feel it later, so don't worry!

Re: anterior placenta???

Thank you for all your help. I had a previous c-section due to placenta previa. This pregnancy I don't have previa just the anterior placenta. Aparently my body doesn't know how to grow a placenta. :) When I was reading about anterior placentas the articles mentioned a high risk of bleeding with a c-section and a possibility of a hysterectomy That's why I asked. Thanks for all you advice.
