Another ticket question - NYC TVB?
I understand you cannot plea down TVB speeding tickets so you should just pay fine, take the points and not bother paying a lawyer. Has anyone had experience in NYC with pleading not guilty? Specifically Queens. TIA

I got a speeding ticket in Queens, paid an atty to fight it because it would've been 6 points on my license and he beat it. Took almost 2 years before it was resolved! Getting an attorney is really the only way to do it. It costs about the same as the ticket, but if you are worried about points it's worth it.

Thanks!! Where did you find attorney? 2 years will be great - because points only last 18 months from offense so even if I lose, the 6 points evaporate!

Sorry , blanking what is TVB? I got a speeding ticket in Queens, went to court, no need for lawyer, nobody there had one. Judge reduced the points and I paid a fine. Not a big deal at all.
Points may not "count" after 18 mths, but they stay on your driving record forever, so insurance companies can use that to justify rate increase.

I'd think they would be on to that, and if you fight it the points would start the day that you were sentenced and not the day of offense.

According to the DMV website, the points don't appear on your record until you are convicted BUT they only count towards your total DMV points for 18 months from the date of the offense. Yes, it does sound like a loophole but that is my understanding from various other websites too.
TVB is Traffic Violations Bureau.
