Another starting solids question
The post about starting solids with a 3 month old got me thinking.... My ped told me to start solids with my dd who is just about 4 1/2 months old.
She can kind of sit up, but not completely by herself. Her head bobs around quite a lot, she's not really stable.
I did give her a spoonful of oatmeal today, but I'm not sure she's ready. Should I continue with feeding or wait until she can sit up unassisted?

Keep doing what you're doing w trying to feed her. Prop her up in a high chair. We padded dd's sides w blankets to keep her sitting up as straight as possible.

Do whatever you are comfortable with. It's not a science. There are no rules.

This.
If she's gagging on the food, then she's not ready. If she's eating and swallowing normally, then she's ready.

How did she like the oatmeal? Did she swallow it? Sometimes it is hard to tell if your LO likes what they are eating. I know DD likes food if she swallows it and opens for more. Even when she has a on her face when trying soMething new. Usually that look is curiosity about texture more than a YUCK.
