Another spinoff to the Nanny/granparent posts- with POll
Just wondering for the working moms, (Full time, Part time, WFH etc), who watches your kids while you are working?
I work PT -- my kids go to school the days I work from 9-12, and the grandparents watch them the rest of the day until DH or I get home from work around 7/8.
Next year older DD will be in school till 3:30 and I may put younger DD in a longer day program till 2:00 on the days that im at work. ANd probably have the grandparents or an afterschool sitter. Once they are both in elementary school i would consider doing an after care program or have a sitter who would do homework with them.
ETA: If you chose other would love to read what you do

I had to chose other. DD is in elementary school from 830 to 230 and then DH is home with her before and after as he is retired.

Totally sexist of me! I was going to add a stay at home dad option and ran out of options so i figured 'other' would do the trick.. I tried tweaking the poll to say school then nanny/babysitter/family member for after school but i cant figure out how to change the poll

My dd goes to a babysitter 2 full days. The other three are split between our parents and she goes to school for 2.5 hours those days. Next year she will be in half day pre-k and will go to the babysitter most afternoons, maybe going to her grandparents 2 afternoons. I'm home by 3:30.

I couldn't really put in the poll b/c it's different for my 2 kids, but dd1 is in nursery school, then grandparents watch in afternoon, and grandparents watch dd2.

Right now at 2 Dd goes to a baby sitter all day. My mom started off watching her 2-3 days a week, but it lasted all of 4 months. In September the baby sitter will bring her to school for 3 hours two days a week.
Ds is 4 mo and is also there.

Daycare, where she'll stay until kindergarten (they have pre-k). At that point we plan to move off LI and I will work from home so I'm able to pick her up.

I've done all of the above (except full time daycare because the hours were not enough to cover my schedule).

DS1 is in school and goes to the aftercare program at school. This is the first year he has gone to the aftercare program. Previously, we used our daycare's aftercare program. DS2 is in daycare FT, but will be going to the aftercare program through school once he starts K in the fall. We don't have family nearby to help, but our jobs are close enough and flexible enough to be able to pick them up by the time the programs close.

Re: Another spinoff to the Nanny/granparent posts- with POll
DD is in daycare. DS goes to school and then my DH takes him off the bus.
When DS was younger we used to have a combination of a SAHM and one of our parents watch him... we realized once he went to school it probably would have been a lot better/easier just to have put him in daycare FT.

Another spinoff to the Nanny/granparent posts- with POll
I answered other for a few reasons.
Prior to 2 years my son was home and received services 5 days a week. I worked part time then and he went to an in home daycare while I worked and worked my hours around his services.
At 2 he started at a school for EI. He went 2.5 hours a day and also received services at home after school. He went to in home daycare 2 days a week and again I scheduled work around school and services.
When he was 3 he started school 5 days a week 4.5 hours a day. Still received services at home 3 days a week in addition.
Finally at 4 we were able to find someone to watch him in the morning. I went to work early and got him off the bus.
At 5 he is now in K. I put him on the bus and have a sitter that gets him off. After school care is not an option for us because of his behavior.
Wish we would have found our sitter years ago.
Grandparents or other family is not even an option for us because there is none.

I put other. In pre k and then my mom gets her so she doesn't have to do after care (she does before care).

DS (11 months) is in dary care, 8am-6pm 5 days a week. We were considering a nanny but grandparents were never an option. I couldn't even imagine my mother taking care of my son for a few hours, let alone a full day.

Re: Another spinoff to the Nanny/granparent posts- with POll
We have a nanny, my family works and the ILS would not be ideal for my FT, i would just end up fighting with them .....i plan to do daycare once DS is 18mos-2yrs.

I work 4 days a week. DS is in daycare 3 days a week and with my MIL one day. Originally family was watching him every day, but once he became mobile it was just too much. I am expecting my second and now have to figure out what to do when she arrives.
