Another questions re eating schedule for 2/3 month old..
Sorry, I have lots of questions today! How much or how often does your 2/3 month old eat? DS is almost 10 weeks and he eats so much, I don't know if I don't produce enough milk or if he's got a super metabolism cause his weight is normal....here's the schedule.... 4 am 8 oz bottle and breast feed ( unusually do 20 minutes on each side more or less) 6 am nurse 8am nurse 10 am nurse and 8oz bottle 12 pm nurse 2 pm nurse 4 pm nurse and 8oz bottle 6 pm nurse and another 8oz bottle 8pm nurse and down for the night....
Smetimes he will go a little longer between nursing like if he naps for 3 hours but this is his schedule pretty much, so he is getting like 8 nursing sessions and 32 oz of formula! You can over feed right? He is a normal weight, so am I not producing enough milk or does he have a fast metabolism or something! lol Will ask ped at our 2 month check up on Friday as well but I wanted some btdt opinions! Thanks! :) ETA He's always been like this, big eater since he was born....

Another questions re eating schedule for 2/3 month old..
My 2 month old DD is EBF, and she eats every 2-3 hours still, even at night. The amount your DS eats sounds like a lot to me with the formula. Just the formula or BM alone sound like enough. I doubt you are producing enough though if you supplement with 32 oz of formula a day. If DD is given a bottle she will only take a max of 4 oz at a time, and then she is good for 3 hours.

Re: Another questions re eating schedule for 2/3 month old..
His naps are random and that schedule was approximate. Sometimes he naps for 1/2 hour sometimes 3 hours and then of course the schedule is different. We play a lot, we talk, read books, go in exersaucer or swing and go for walks. He loves his tummy time mat but always falls asleep on tummy on it so Iam afraid to use it too often. How do you know if your making enough breast milk? I rarely leak as when I do it's like a quarter size on my shirt. When I squeeze my nipples a little milk comes out of one or two ducts.....

DS is formula fed... but at 2/3 months he was at 6oz bottles... every 4 hours, skipping the middle of the night:
630 am 1030 am 230 pm 630pm 11pm
still on the pretty much the same schedule, with oatmeal with 2 of his bottles (he is just over 4 months)

Re: Another questions re eating schedule for 2/3 month old..
I am no professional but I do have two kids
32oz plus 8 nursing sessions seems like a lot! DD is 5.5 months and only take 30/32oz per day in 5 six oz bottles.
My son was a HUGE eater and never took more than 40oz per day (8 oz bottles).
Ask your ped

Thanks I will ask again on Friday. Last time I asked they said he was a big eater, but he just keeps upping his ounces. I try and push it back by playing with him but he eventually want to eat more...

DS was 10 weeks old yesterday. He is EBF. He nurses six times per day and is sleeping 8 hours at night.
Example: 5AM BF 8AM BF 11AM BF 2PM BF 5PM BF 8PM BF
He plays after every feeding and then takes a nap (from 30 min to 2 hours)

I'm of the opinion that if the baby is hungry, feed him. And DS was always hungry so I'd feed him. However, I think there's no possible way your baby could be eating that much at 10 weeks old and be legitimately hungry. Are you mistaking signs of tiredness as hunger?

Re: Another questions re eating schedule for 2/3 month old..
I did a search for how much a 3 mo old should be eating and found this post from July. I'm going back to work in a couple of weeks and wondering how much breast milk to leave for DD, who is currently 10 weeks. I basically BF and pump a bit. I don't know how much she gets when bf'ing and I've never pumped more than 4 ozs. When I give her the 4 ozs she easily drinks it and seems to want more.
Can you share your feeding schedule with me and how much you give. Thanks.

My DD will be 11 wks on Sunday. She is EBF, except for 1 bottle at night. She takes 5 oz in that bottle. She will nurse every 2-3 hrs during the day and she just recently started sleeping btwn 5-6 hrs at night.
