another potty training question

My DD (who will be 3 in a week) is on day 4 of the "modified" 3 day potty training method.
She has been doing great with only a couple of accidents.
The only problem is pooping. She is so scared to poop in the potty that she is holding it in.
She was so hysterical on Tuesday that I had her poop in a pull up, same with yesterday.

I know it's harder to train with pooping so what do I do?

Also- we are going to my in-laws all day tomorrow & Im so nervous about taking her out. Do I keep her in underwear, bring her potty seat and a bunch of clothes? I don't want to regress by putting the pull up on her.

another potty training question

This was my DD. She was pee trained in a day. Poop took about 2 weeks or so. I did exactly what you did - let her poop in a pull up. I kept encouraging her to go in the potty, but I didn't want her holding it in.
Then one day, I just told her that there were no more pull ups and she would have to go on the potty. And she did.
As for going to your in-laws - I would keep her in her undies, bring her potty seat and extra clothes.

I did a "modified" 3 day method too. You know your child best, so do what feels right to you. My DD also had a harder time with poop training. I think if giving a pull-up relieves some anxiety and stress, give it for the time being. I know not all will agree with me. As far as outings and potty training, again not all would agree with me, but I would put a pull-up on over her underwear, so she'd feel the wetness if she did go, but the pull-up would contain any mess; it helped put both of our minds at ease. If your MIL's house is a place you guys are used to spending time at, that might not be necessary. Just follow your gut, and your DD's cues, and it will all come together! I don't believe a totally strict method is the only way to go for all kids. Good luck!

Re: another potty training question

We did the 3 day method over Xmas break when dd was 2 1/2. She had to poop twice in those three days and she was scared. Both resulted in half accidents.

Fast forward a week and she was holding her poop the entire week. We had her 2 1/2 well visit and the dr said you're just going to have to untrain her. It's more important that she poops than that she's potty trained. Well we got home from the dr. She said she had to go potty and lo and behold she pooped. After that there was no turning back. I think they just do it when they're ready.

As for leaving the house, I have a potty I keep in the car. I have captain seats in the car and it's in between them so if we are out and about she will go in her potty in the car way easier than getting my 7 month old out of her car seat and finding a store or something for her to go.

I also take the potty with me to friends houses or out running errands. It also takes away the stress of public bathrooms with the automatic flushers, cleanliness etc. I just bring her potty to the bathroom and she goes on her potty. It's very small, portable, has a handle and most important she loves it.
