Another people are dumb vent

I know this comes up a lot on this board but I have to vent. A worker at my doctor's office always tells us that our last name is the same last name as a family she used to babysit for that had 10 kids. This time she followed it up with the dreaded question "do you have any kids"? I told her "we're working on it, it's not as easy as everyone thinks" which is code for shut the f*ck up. She then told us to keep working on it and there's nothing like the moment when your husband sees your child for the first time. I wanted to tell her many different things but I kept telling myself that she didn't say these things to hurt my feelings but it still really hurt

Some people really, really have no idea how hard it is when you have IF. In reality no one should ever assume anything about whether or not people are going to have kids and/or when. Statistics say that 1 in 8 couples (or is it 1 in 6?) has difficulty conceiving. That's actually a big percentage and people need to be aware that it's really difficult and sensitive for those people. There needs to be more public awareness about infertility

Some people still don't understand that it is not as simple as everyone thinks and tend to forget that people do struggle with conceiving. I think you handled it well, she didn't say it to hurt your feelings. It just stinks when we have to "understand" people and make excuses/reasons for them. But who understand us?

Some pple really don't get it! She should have stopped after u said ur working on it and its not as easy as everyone thinks.
