Another hosta question

I have a hosta in my backyard that used to come up really full and big (for the first 2 years I lived in my house) However, the past 2 years it came up really teeny and unhealthy looking and never got any bigger. I have another one nearby and it continues to get bigger year after year. What can I do to help the runt?

if the runt got ran over by the lawn mower then that could be the cause otherwise you have pests attacking it. I would use soapy dish water and thrown it on it every week when its spring again.

A: Usually, half the size means that something is wrong in the root system. It is often the start of root rot. If you are game, dig up one of the plants in question and inspect the crown and roots. If it appears healthy, then my next best guess is that the foliage was damaged or removed early last year and not enough carbohydrates were stored to produce the typical foliage.
