another homeowners insurance ?
Ours went from $770 to over $1000 this year  .
Does this sound right? I'm waiting on Allstate to get back to me.

Ours went from $770 to over $1000 this year .

Are you on LI?
Most if not all companies are raising their rates on LI.
Shop around. If you're currently with Allstate...they're definitely raising rates on current policies.
