Another Gift Spinoff Question!
I am a guidance counselor and work in a dept with 5 other counselors and one director. We were discussing a group gift for the director and a few people decided they didn't want to spend $$ and go in on the gift.
Another co-worker/friend and I were discussing what to get the director and she suggested signing everyone's name to the card. I disagreed - my thoughts are why should I cover for other adults who are consciously choosing not to contribute - my DH is not working right now - why should I cover them?
It ended up that my friend and I just went in on and gift - the two of us.
Do you think I was wrong? What are your thoughts on this? Would you have covered people who didn't want to contribute?

No, I wouldn't have put their names on it either. Unless they are just super cheap & cheesy--they probably don't want their names on the card, other wise they would have given you money. Perhaps they don't like the director, or feel wierd giving a gift to a superior.

Nope, you are 100% right. If someone wants to contribute to the gift, so be it. However, there's no way you should "cover" for them and sign their names. You did the right thing
