Another gift giving question...if you don't attend (not wedding related)
Do you send a gift to any party you are invited to but cant attend? 1st birthday? Christening? We are invited to many of our friends kids events (some friends from college that do not even live close by and we dont see very often). Do you send a gift for everything? Or just bigger events like a wedding?

I send a gift for everything. I would send a smaller gift than if I attended.

I don't. It depends on the event and my relationship with the person.

For showers and christenings, I would probably still send a gift since it is likely I am close with the people if they invited me. For birthdays, it depends-random classmate or acquaintance, probably not. But if it is a good friend or family member then I still send a gift.

if its a one-time event (shower, christening, etc), ill send a gift. if its a birthday or housewarming or something like that, i will just bring something the next time i see the people (which sometimes is much later!)
