Re: Another driver (with a child) on drugs
Since not everyone can read their website:
Mother charged with driving high with daughter in car, say cops
A 3-year-old girl suffered a head injury when her mother drove high on drugs and crashed Sunday in Water Mill, Southampton Town police said Monday.
Kasey J. Cosgrove's daughter was taken to Southampton Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.
Cosgrove, 35, of Noyac Path in Water Mill, was driving a Honda on Noyac Path when she struck a Mini Cooper just before 2 p.m., police said. She was arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years or younger, also known as Leandra's Law, driving while ability impaired by drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and operating with a suspended registration.
She was held with bail set at $53,000, police said.
Other details in the crash were not immediately available Monday evening. It was not clear if the Mini was occupied, parked or on the road.
Detectives said witnesses could contact them at 631-702-2230.
Many prayers for that little girl

Re: Another driver (with a child) on drugs
And another one!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cops: Man driving with 3 young sons charged under Leandra's Law
Nassau County police have arrested a Middletown man under Leandra's Law on charges of driving drunk with his three sons unbuckled in the backseat early Sunday in North Hills.
An officer patrolling the westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway saw Kingsley C. Chukwu, 45, swerving his 2009 Honda in and out of lanes, police said.
After he was pulled over, police determined Chukwu was driving under the influence of alcohol with his three sons, all under age 6, unrestrained in the backseat. ? Chukwu was charged with three counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, known as Leandra's Law, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of DWI and numerous traffic violations.
The children's 38-year-old mother was in the front seat.
No injuries were reported and the children were released to their mother. Chukwu's vehicle was impounded, authorities said.
At his arraignment Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead, Chukwu's bail was set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond. No date had been set for his next appearance. His bail had not been posted by 4 p.m.
Leandra's Law makes it a felony, even on the first offense, to drive drunk with a child 15 or younger in the vehicle. The law was spurred by the Oct. 11, 2009, death of Leandra Rosado, 11, of Manhattan, in a car accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway. The girl was on her way to a slumber party in a car driven by Carmen Huertas, the mother of one of Leandra's friends. Huertas had a blood-alcohol level of 0.132 percent and pleaded guilty to 16 counts, including drunken driving and second-degree manslaughter.

Why the F were those 3 boys released to their mother when she was in the front seat knowing full well they're all not restrained and I am sure knowing her husband is drunk.
And why with that first story did the mother get 53k bail. That's nothing! Her 3yo suffered a head injury.
Stop driving drunk!

Re: Another driver (with a child) on drugs
It's sad that anyone in this world is allowed to pro-create. I don't mean that in a negative way...it just saddens me when people have children and don't care and love them the way they deserve. But maybe these people are the way they are because their parents raised them the same way. Its a viscous cycle.

Re: Another driver (with a child) on drugs
Absolutely disgusting!!!! I can't understand how you could drive after drinking ever. How you could drink and drive with a child in the car is even harder to understand. As a mother I'm constantly questioning every decision I make daily. I could never ever knowingly put my children in danger. They deserve a lot of jail time!!!!!
