Another breastfeeding doubt if I fed her enough

So I nursed DD until she fell off the breast and put her down to rest and she hasn't cried or chewed her fingers. Since I have been supplementing with formula while I pump after each feeding to build supply, I am so surprised to have been able to satisfy her.

Did I really satisfy her? She is five and half weeks. She would let me know if her belly wasn't full, right? I don't want to call the LC again with a stupid little question like this, so I need some reassurance from you ladies.

She's probably satisfied. She'll let you know if she's hungry. I wouldn't wake her up. You can always try putting her to your breast when she wakes up. How long did she nurse for?

This was really one of the hardest parts of nursing for me. I was always worried that DS wasn't eating enough. For the first few weeks I kept a log of when and how long he nursed for and also how many wet and soiled diapers. As long as she is making diapers she's getting enough to eat.

I would suggest getting a baby scale. You can weigh her before feeding and then after to see how much she took, the milliagrams she increases eguals the mg she drank.

That would help ease your mind.

Is she making diapers? If she isn't screaming, and she's gaining weight and making diapers- then she is probably fine.

When Jordana was born, she would always fall asleep on the boob. IN the hospital i got so worried that she wasn't getting enough. The nurses told me to count her diapers. If she doesn't seem uncomfortable, and she is making diapers and gaining weight- your fine.

If you are not having supply issues- that she should be getting enough and you shouldn't worry about it. If she isn't frustrated while nursing- then you are fine.

I know it seems unlikely, but you probably satisfied her - like others said - she would tell you if you didn't! don't worry, just enjoy that maybe you are finally able to stop (or decrease) the supplementing :) if she wakes up hungry again soon, try nursing with the other side.. That's what I'd do (hopefully it is the right thing, it seems to have worked so far for us)..

I had the same feelings when my dd was that age. I was worried she wasn't getting enough and had to supplement with formula. At the time I felt she was more satisfied on formula. At 6 weeks I decided to go back to solely breastfeeding because she became so fussy on formula. I ,as well, was concerned she wasn't getting enough milk. At her two month checkup the Dr. said not to worry she was in fact getting enough milk ,he said her weight was fine. As long as you are seeing enough wet diapers, I think she is probably getting enough to eat.
