Another birthday party and sibling question
I've never hosted a party at a place before, like a bounce house place, chuckee cheese., Etc. Any place that charges per kid attending. I completely understand how it would be rude to bring a sibling uninvited to participate in the party. But what if the sibling is a baby or very young toddler, who would either stay in the stroller or off to the side the whole time, and not participate in the party at all or eat any of the food. Would the party place charge the host for that sibling or do you think the host would think that's rude? Just checking before I bring my almost 1 yo to a party my older child was invited to.

Re: Another birthday party and sibling question
It depends on the place. I always contact the host and ask them if I can bring a non-participating child of ??? age and I bluntly say that I don't want that child included in the count.
Last party I went to, 2 of us had a baby a week apart in age... both were just under 1.5y Other child "participated" & I told the place my child was too young to "get it". They counted that one and not mine.

Re: Another birthday party and sibling question
I've always had parties at places, I've never been charged for a sibling that came and didn't participate. I highly doubt any place would charge for an infant in a stroller in the same room.
Maybe it's just my town, but people always bring their infant/young children (under 2) everywhere with them and it's never an issue.

Re: Another birthday party and sibling question
we just had a bday party at safari adventure in riverhead.
siblings/ kids under 1 are not charged
and before the party they ask you if you will pay for siblings not on the list or else they take care of telling the parents to pay the regular day pass fee (which was just $10)

It depends on the place. Some places charge for 1 year old and up, even if they are in a stroller.
ETA: Regardless, you should ask the host before you bring an uninvited sibling to a party.

Another birthday party and sibling question
I've seen people bring babies to parties and aren't charged. The babies usually just hang out in a stroller.

This. I mean DD had a gymnastics party and one of the moms had an infant- under 1 year old in her arms- I can't see how they would even look in that direction to charge.

Re: Another birthday party and sibling question
If I was a host of a birthday party and a mom brought their baby who sat with them the whole time (which I would not think is rude at all), I would pitch a hissy if the place charged me. Its funny you posted this. My DS has a party tomorrow night and I can't get one of my usual adult sitters for my 2 LO. They are both babies and I'm not comfortable leaving both of them with a teenager just because they are still so little and my 20 month old is wild. I was going to leave him home with the babysitter but take my 6 month old with me. He's a lump. I can't imagine the host getting charged for him sitting in the infant seat.

Another birthday party and sibling question
I had a party at a bounce type place and they counted every kid that was in the room - even if they didn't play. Although I didn't have any "babies" so I am not sure how they would have handled that. I did have a mom bring an older sibling that made her sit on the side - but once I realized they counted her anyway - I told her she could play too.

Another birthday party and sibling question
They usually count during eating time - how many kids are sitting and eating. That's who they charge for. That's how it's been done for the last 3 parties we've had.

Re: Another birthday party and sibling question
When DS2 was under 1, I occasionally brought him to birthday parties of DS1's friends if DH wasn't available to watch him. I either wore him or kept him in the stroller. I don't know of any place that charges for infants.
