Exactly.
I'm the whitest person ever and for a "walking around" non-beach day like the one pictured above, I just slap on some of that body lotion with the SPF in it... and done!
Who walks around like that?!

If she were an 80 year old Chinese woman, I'd get it - it's definitely important there and a status thing (dark skin meant that you worked in the fields and were therefore poor, dh used to get yelled at by his grandma for his tanned skin all the time).
