animal shelter
Hi,
Hope someone could help us with this question.
We need to find a new home for our cat who is approx 5 years old now.
Anyone know of any no-kill shelters that take in all cats, young or old.
All the ones I spoke to seem to not accept adult cats.
We found out our toddler is allergic which is why he is constantly getting sick and on antibotics.
Thanks

Re: animal shelter
eh this is a toughy with the adult cat. Unfort. so many cats and no homes to go to. I would try a shelter in Huntington (can't remember the name off hand) but i think they may take them.

Re: animal shelter
the shelter in huntington is called LAP (league of animal protection) they're a FANTASTIC shelter and i don't believe they ever put any animals down. i've seen dogs that are still there that i saw when i adopted my girl there 2 years ago! and who knows how long they were there before that. you could also check into little shelter in huntington. they never put dogs or cats down, even if they're completely unadoptable.

Re: animal shelter
What about putting a post out here or an add on Craigslist or make up fliers and put them in the supermarket.
This past winter, I adopted a cat from here from an LIFer whose todldler was allergic. She did a post on here and I responded. I know someone who had luck putting up fliers in the supermarket and another on craigslist. Just include a pic. Good luck. If I had room I would adopt him, but two cats in a 2 br apt. is plenty.
There are people out there looking for cats other than kittens. Good Luck.

Re: animal shelter
Hi, thank you for all the suggestions.
So far no luck. There is a little hope someone I work with will take him once they find a place of their own. So I am not really counting on that since I don't know how long that could take.
I didn't want to put an ad on craigslist as I heard some pretty bad stuff with pet listings. Seems people would "adopt" the pets off craigslist and do some horrible things to them.
But, I would put an ad on LI Families, thanks for the idea. I didn't even realize they had a pets board until they moved my post.
If anyone is interesting in adopting him, just FM me and I can send a picture.
He is a black cat with white underneath, I think they call them Tuxedo cats. He is about 5-6 years old. He is nuetered and declawed only in the front and is only an indoor cat. He is outgoing and friendly. Loves laying around all day looking for the warm sun spot to lay in.
I will post a pic once I find one.
Thanks
