Andy Roddick hosted his first annual Charity Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., Friday night, and his ex, Mandy Moore, was on hand to lend star wattage.

"We're cool," the tennis hunk, 24, told PEOPLE of his relationship with Moore, 22, whom he dated for more than a year before they split in 2004. "We're doing fine now. She's a good girl, and it says a lot about her to come out tonight."

The pair chatted in the gifting suite before celeb guests such as Venus and Serena Williams, Nicky Hilton (who later met up with sister Paris at the South Beach nightclub Ink) and Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough hit the tables. Roddick and Moore have been friendly for a while: In July, they shared an intimate lunch at the poolside Backyard restaurant at L.A.'s W hotel.

Friday's event raised funds for the five-year-old Andy Roddick Foundation, which supports Kids in Distress, A Safe Haven for Newborns and other charities that help abused and at-risk children.

"We proposed the concept and everyone was real excited," Roddick said of the tournament. "We have superstars of the tennis world, the modeling world with the cast of (MTV's) 8th and Ocean, the actress world with Mandy. I'm humbled by everybody that came out tonight. It's pretty cool."

So have he and Moore rekindled their romance? Nope, he said: They're just friends.
