And we thought Don Imus was bad?????
Tex Antoine was a popular American meteorologist. He started out on WNBC-TV, and in 1966, moved to WABC Channel 7.
On November 24, 1976, his weather spot came up just after a report of a violent rape of a five year old girl.
Tex thereupon quipped: "With rape so predominant in the news lately, it is well to remember the words of Confucious: 'If rape is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it.'"  
His "joke" got himself suspended, then fired. He made an attempted comeback a short time before his death, but his poor judgment in that one instance essentially ruined the career of what was otherwise a witty and talented newscaster.
He died in 1983.

Whoopi Goldberg talked about this guy on The View this morning (although I believe it was a repeat).
Rosie said Sharon Stone once said something similar back in the day on her show and there were little to no repercussions ...
