Anaesthesia w a cough? xpost
My 2.5 year old is due for a tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy and turbinate reduction in 2 days. He has a very slight cough, mostly in the morning. Does anyone have experience? Will his surgery be postponed? We've waited so long for this and I'm so stressed about a possible cancellation. I plan on calling the surgeon and hospital later today

If he has a fever, it will be cancelled. If he get much worse and his lungs sound congested he will be cancelled. The risk of complications is high in the cases above.
Most Anesthesiologists will allow a slight cough/sniffles especially in kids, especially getting T&A... You can see your pediatrician before then to see if he’s likely to get cancelled, but unfortunately, the Anesthesiologist will have the ultimate call... and it’s based on how your kid looks that day.

Personally, I would reschedule because I wouldn't want him to be coughing after having his tonsils out (ouch!).
An anesthesiologist will not put a child under if they think there is ANY risk of complications so if they say they can do it I wouldn't hesitate.
