an update

I saw the Diabetic Counselor nurse this morning and she reviewed everything, went over a diet and ordered my blood testing machine. I need to test 6x per day for the beginning. 1x before meals and then 2 hours after meals. Heartrate was in the 120-130s.

Interesting note, I am measuring 2 weeks ahead = 30 weeks so she's sending me for a sono in 2 weeks to check the fetal weight (that's the bright side - i get to see my baby again) and she gave me a chart to follow so i can document the fetal movement since i am having a hard time feeling movement regularly. She said its prob due to either excessive fluid and also my placenta location cushioning. I see the high risk dr. in 2 weeks and he'll see how my #s have been in relation to the diet.

Re: an update

it seems ok. i'm going to read through everything tonight and i think i'll be fine. I just need to organize myself and be better about packing my snacks/lunch with me so i'm not eating on the run and i need to pace myself with the food instead of skipping a mid-morning snack and then having the fruit etc with my meal instead of a couple of hours before/after it. You know???

I'm really curious to see how much the baby is measuring. I'm not surprised my belly is measuring more advanced than my date Chat Icon Chat Icon

Sorry you have to go thru that....sounds like lots of work. But I'm sure you will get used to it and learn how to cope. Its not too much longer now, although it may seem like forever. Good luck.

Yeah for growth sonos!

Another "sticking fingers" mommy to be here too. It isnt that bad, following the diet VERY carefully is the hardest part. Hang in there! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon You do get used to sticking your finger, somehow. It is easier to have more than one tester as long as you know they are all accurate.

My DH probably tests 6-8 times a day b/c testing is the way not to let diabetes control you. No, he doesn't have gestional diabetes
Chat Icon : but testing is testing no matter what the root of the illness. The tester at his office never comes home, and there are 1-2 around the house plus one in his backpack. I don't think they are expensive, either.

I'm measuring at a full term baby right now and they told me I will go to 40 weeks. (That's 5 weeks away)

I'm glad they are monitoring you closely!! Chat Icon

Re: an update

Good Luck to you. Once you get in your routine and packing your bag of food for the day - it gets so much easier!!! The sonos will be fun. My son always measured slightly larger too and came 3 weeks early at 7lbs 2 oz - I always said - no more sugar and we decided to jump ship!! lol
