AMH went up? UPDATE

After this whole ordeal with the ectopic pregnancy, I have decided to take a break. I have to take care of kidney stones anyway.

We will start trying again in April, maybe May.

I got reports from my RE to bring to my OBGYN who I will be seeing next month just so she is up to date on everything that has been going on.

While reading it, I saw that my AMH went from
0.20 in June 2012
to
0.60 in September of 2012

RE didn't tell me it went up and I'm now left wondering why? On the report it shows me going from "Reduced" Range into "Fair"

I've read so much about Endometriosis causing low AMH even a false low AMH from Endometriosis surgery. MY surgery was in May so I was checked right after the surgery and then again 3 months after. I'm thinking I should ask to have it checked again.

After all this... I'm just curious how many people have had their AMH go up on it's own? I'm hoping it's a good sign.

If it matters, my FSH is 6.85

My OB said that AMH just measures ovarian reserve and has nothing to do with quality. Just quantity. She also said that even though the RE I have been seeing is a fantastic Dr., she feels he and other REs are only focused on numbers and nothing else. They forget how surprising nature can be. She said I am not in a state where I NEED and REs intervention unless I want to be pregnant sooner then later. I only went to the RE bc my insurance wouldn't cover my DH SA unless it was through an RE. Then they scared me to death with what they were saying about my low AMH.

My OB let me go there thinking I was in a hurry to get pregnant. I just wanted to get pregnant and thought that was the only way to do it. But now, after the ectopic pregnancy, I have decided to stick with my OB for a little while and try on our own again. If after 6 months nothing happens, we will go over everything again.

Yes, My RE told me it can fluctuate! Esp with it low from the endo scarring. Did you start taking any supplements? I just started on DHEA, wheatgrass, vitD and omega 3. In the end, the test is never 100% accurate so maybe that's why it fluctuates?

I'm not taking anything but my prenatal that has DHEA in it.

he didn't sau it fluctuates. He said FSH did, thats why he doesn't go by that. AMH is always the same throughout your cycle so it's a better sign of what's what. Meanwhile, it did change. It didn't jump to normal, but it went up to out of the "no hope range"

I'm going to add some Vit D to that because it was a little low at my last physical. I read low D can cause low AMH.

I need to know where it is now. I'm so curious if it went up even more or if it dropped again. That will def. make my decision for my next step easier.

Some Drs are noticing it can fluctuate. My Dr said they do see it go up in some patients but not by a huge margin. It's just an indicator but can be off. I'm happy for you!!! I would def try and retest to see.

Your FSH is great! (coming from someone with premature ovarian failure who has really high FSH, but really its great you have that going for you).

It is great that your AMH went up that much, I would definitely get re-tested ASAP since it has been a while, it can't hurt. Especially if there is a known link to endo effecting AMH levels!

The AMH test just measures your antral follicle count in a different way by measuring the hormone they produce to prevent more follicles from being (wastefully) recruited. While AMH stays the same throughout a given cycle, the AFC can definitely fluctuate from cycle to cycle. At different points in the past year my AFC has been 8, 10, and 17. AHM would vary accordingly.

I'm happy it went up! Maybe that means the initial measure was just taken on a bad month.

Great update! You def have to do what's best for your situation. Your OB sounds very open minded. I saw a diff RE at my office and she was focused on my numbers and stressed how they will affect my future. My current RE never focuses on numbers.. She always tries to knock that out of my mind and says numbers fluctuate and change.. It's not a death sentence. Trying to keep positive day by day. Good luck to you!!
