am I the only one married to a hypochondriac?
my DH is never just sick- he is always "dying"- he never just has a cold- it must be some new sickness that we don't know about yet
I really can't take it anymore

OMG, DH had a cold a couple of days ago and he was CONVINCED he had pneumonia. He kept saying "feel my head, I have a fever." I wanted to strangle him.

Re: am I the only one married to a hypochondriac?
I get the worst headaches that really lay me on my asss all day long... I dont' get them often, but when I do, it's not pretty.
FH gets headaches all the time but his are always WAAAAY worse than mine. I tell him, take Tylenol or shut up because if you won't take Tylenol it can't be that bad... meanwhile when I have one of my headaches (which I have a perscription for) I get no sympathy (and I'm not asking for it).

OMG- I get that once a week
and he has gotten better about this- but at least 4 times last year- he would wake me up at 3am - telling me he HAD to go to the ER
I wont even tell you what he just called to tell me he thinks he has today-

What's even better is that he was in the pharmacy last week picking up antibiotics for the "pneumonia" and there was a guy in there with TB!!!! He had a minor strain of it and was on the lowest antibiotic regimen, but he was going on about how he had to go to the ER! He made me call the doctor!!! I called and the doctor said, well unless they got intimate, there really is no concern

I feel better that I am not alone- I grew up in the kind of house- where your arm had to be falling off before my Mom would like you miss school- but my MIL was different- she always fell for his "sickness"
my DH would have done the samething- and for the next week I would have to listen to him about how he has TB now!

I'm laughing here bc that is so MY husband...he is always dying as well! LOL Meanwhile, he wakes up the next day and he is fine...I think they can't take the exhaustion...I noticed that when he is exhausted he is sick and dying.

Re: am I the only one married to a hypochondriac?
I wouldn't say my DH is a hypochondriac, but he does complain about his aches, pains, and sniffles more than I do. I think if something is off, he has trouble coping with it.
It is hard to know when to take his health complaints seriously, and when they are just complaints.

that's the main problem- I feel like he is the boy that cried wolf
so I could tell he was annoyed when I didn't give him the sympathy he wanted when he called- I just told him if he feels that way to go to the doctor
99 out of 100 times- he doesn't go to the doctor

My DH too. Also if he hits himself or hurts himself in some way he acts like a four year old Then wonders why Damien acts that way when he gets a minor abrasion and such

EXACTLY the same situation. My mom would always say "take a pill and go to school." My stepsons stay home for any reason. It's insane!
