Am I nuts or is this insensitive?
So I am not telling people that we are having a boy, we have 3 boys and I just want to wait to tell people when he's born, anyway, i am talking to a friend (who knows how badly i wanted a girl) and she says, "well if its a boy, you can always get female pets" I found this to be so insensitive.... maybe i'm just hormonal....

I am sure she didn't mean to sound insensitive-- but, I can see how someone would maybe take it that way.
It really depends on the kind of person she is, would she normally say something mean like that?

It sounds like your friend was just being silly. Unless she is someone who is generally insensitive, she probably didn't mean to be. She just said something silly without thinking. JMO

We are not sure what we are having yet. We are getting comments like this too (Well not about pets b/c I live in a friggin zoo already) and I really think that people feel like they HAVE to have something to say. Like they cannot just let a conversation end, KWIM?
I think it is stupid, but not entirely insensitive. Just ignorant maybe.

I wouldn't really say it's insensitive.
I'm sure she was just teasing you -
I mean, what DO you say to the person who desperately wants one thing and gets another? You know? (Granted, she could have kept quiet and said nothing, but still........)
But it takes a LOT to hurt my feelings, so I may be the wrong person to ask -

I think you might be feeling a little upset about your situation, If the person is your friend she didn't mean anything by it, maybe she was trying to be funny or something I wouldn't take it so personal. I hope you'll still have your girl one day. G-d works in mysterious ways...

She's probably trying to lighten your mood. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt your feelings, but I totally get why you'd be bothered by it.
I'll be finding out in a week if this is boy #3 for us, and I am already NOT looking forward to people's reactions, either way!

I agree. I am sure she didn't mean it to hurt your feelings. But I understand why considering you want a girl so bad you would be hurt by what she said.
