Am I being a crazy new mom?
MIL offered to watch my 3 week old for me while I catch up on errands/napping. I drop him off & notice that her other grandchild is there (9yrs old). This kid was all over the baby the first time she met him & she is always sick (she seemed healthy today though). NOw I am freaking out thinking about her hands all over my DS little baby face & I don't want him to get sick. I just got home & started tearing up when I saw all of his things laying around.

Nah, i don't think you are being crazy. I made everyone Purell when they came into my house and didn't want kids coming over. It's ok if you are being a crazy mom, you are allowed! Besides, the hormones are still out of control.

Re: Am I being a crazy new mom?
We were pretty cautious with DD at that young age. We made everyone wash their hands before touching her and nicely put a stop to when kids were hanging over her touching her for too long.

I don't think you're being crazy at all. If it really makes you uncomfortable, could you possibly mention to your MIL that until the baby is a little older you would prefer he not be exposed to additgional germs? To be honest though, I kow for my MIL as well as my own mother, that would probably fall on deaf ears. My MIL always had/has people over when she watches DS and my mom likes to have my niece and son over at the same time. She kills two birds with one stone and she also likes to see them play together.

This is what my mil does also... she loves to show him off so she will take hundreds of pics blinding him with the flash & will have people over if he is there.. drives me nuts. He is not a toy.

Annnhhhhh
I wouldn't be that upset about it. Maybe I would ask MIL to just make sure that the other kid washed her hands before she played with the baby
I don't think I'd be upset. My BIL and two SILs (at the time 11, 13 and 16) always loved on DS when he was a NB

Re: Am I being a crazy new mom?
How should I address this in the future since I let her granddaughter around DS two times since he has been born? Should I just make up excuses as to why DS can't go over there until he is 3 months old & has had some vaccinations? DH is afraid of his mother so he won't say a word to her.

No, I was just like you.
My mom used to do that when DS was an infant and I just had to be honest and say that I did not want her coming over to help if she was bring my niece and nephew. They were both in school and constantly sick.

Re: Am I being a crazy new mom?
No, you do need to be careful of germs when they are so little. I'd ask MIL to ask anyone coming up to DC to wash first and not get near him if they are sick. I don't think it's asking too much, esp. now with a lot of bugs going around.

Re: Am I being a crazy new mom?
NOT crazy at all!!!! What you are feeling is TOTALLY normal! As DS gets older you will have this feeling less and less. BUT, some kids will always gross you out when they are anywhere near your DC and others won't.
I made sure people knew how crazy I was about the germs, especially when they are little little. I made up this whole swine flu excuse (i didn't vaccinate him with the swine flu just the reg flu shot).
My nieces are ALWAYS sick! Makes me crazy, but not like it used to!
