Anyone getting allergies especially bad this year? I feel miserable... tried benadryl which only made me drowsy, been using zyrtec with no relief. Anyone want to share what works for them?

Re: allergies
My allergies are usually late summer to fall. I don't really suffer at this time of year but I keep hearing on the weather reports how bad it is right now.
Have you tried Flonase- it's a nasal spray- which i HATE but if you get the sensi-mist one it's such a fine mist you feel nothing at all.
You have to use it daily for it to build up in your system and give you relief but I find once you do it for about a week it makes a HUGE difference.

Re: allergies
I take an all natural allergy remedy. It is called D-Hist. They make it for children too. I started taking in weeks ago.

Flonase, Zyrtec, and an additional antihistamine nose spray that was prescribed. It has been MISERABLE. There were a couple days i also needed benadryl in addition. Honestly worst season for me yet.

I never really had allergies. But, over the past few years, I think I've been developing the. The past few weeks have been awful - I got hit really hard. This is the first time I have really experienced allergies and it is not fun lol. I've been taking Allegra - works OK, not completely, but does provide some relief

This! They are SO BAD this year.
I have used Flonase in the past, starting in the winter to build up in my system, but this year it was useless. Someone mentioned to me that your body gets used to the different meds and you need to switch them up every so often so maybe that's what happened to me this year.
Then again everyone seems to be saying the same thing so maybe not.

Re: allergies
Zyrtec at bight, Flonase every morning and a 12 hr Claritin about noon
The only thing that keeps me feeling semi normal. And I still have some throat pain, nose stuffiness and sinus pressure. Without all of that, I’d be a mess

Yes. Me.
I take Xyzal in the evening and a patanase nasal spray. In the morning I take Flonase.
My kids have been really bad too. I’m ripping through Allegra for them.

How is the Xyzal compared to Zyrtec/Claritin? Is it better?

Re: allergies
I usually get really bad allegies first week of May. I swear for Flonase. I have used it the last 2 years one month prior, starting late march, and last year I didn't feel them that bad. This year I'm also good, so far. DS gets them too, and he is also in Flonase and has felt well, so far.

They say it is, but I didn't see a difference for ME. However, sometimes you get kind of "immune" to one drug so this could be good to switch it up if you have been doing Claritin or Zyrtec for a long time and notice it isn't working as well

My 5 yr old has allergies too, he hasn’t really started this yr though. For him I use a mix of almond oil (or any carrier oil) and lavender, lemon, and peppermint essential oils, put everything in a roller bottle and put some under his nose whenever I hear him sneezing. I also have him drink nettle tea with raw local honey throughout the day (great tea for allergies), and if it’s getting pretty bad, I also give him Dr Nenninger Triple Allergy Defense (a few drops mixed with water). Also it’s super important to blow ur nose as soon as u start feeling it runny. I’ve also heard Earthly Sinus Saver is great but we haven’t tried it yet.

Zyrtec puts me out and I’m also groggy in the AM from it. Seems I’m the only one too lol

Both my boys take the Children's Xyzal in the morning and fine. Actually I found it to be the opposite for them so it's better first thing in the morning. My 9 year old is highly allergic to pollen so he's on that and Flonase and it really helps. It used to be a prescription so now we don't have to pay as much bc it's OTC.

Wow! I wish. It does nothing to make me sleepy. Only Benadryl does that for me

Re: allergies
Mine are horrible, too, and I’m on another continent. I have an air purifier running, but that doesn’t help too much.
I also take the Target brand 24 hour allergy relief. I’m not sure what brand it compares to. I think Zyrtec. That works a bit. It’s worse in the morning.
