All it takes is one time...
I have an 11.5 month old DS who I am still breastfeeding. We were not TTC. My cycles are still wacky from BFing. DH and I have always been careful except for one time this past month. I wasn't too concerned because what are the chances?!?!?! It took us 5 months to conceive DS. Well it looks like I am preggo. I am filled with so many emotions right now and am in complete shock as this was absolutely unplanned and I am unprepared for this. I feel so guilty becuase I am crying over this. I have not accepted it at all.

dont beat yourself up. it sounds to me that youre actually a very responsible parent who is worried for your family, what with this new little one on the way. of course youre freaked out. but i am SURE you and your DH will figure out a way.

Re: All it takes is one time...
It only took us one time too. DD was 10 months. It was scary and exciting at the same time. Then we found out I'm having twins. I'm due in a few short months. You have 9 months to plan and prepare and after the first sono you will be connected and in love. It will all work out

Another one timer here
We were NOT planning this at all and we found out we were having #2 when DD was almost 7 months. I too cried and took me a few days to accept the fact and deal. Now i'm only 2.5 months away from giving birth and i'm very excited! Stressed but excited It will work out in the end

Re: All it takes is one time...
In the end, that's is all it takes. ONE TIME. While it's great for those TTC to have tons of sex and timing and all that jazz, in the end it will be only ONE time that gets you pregnant. That one time can happen to any of us when we aren't expecting it!
Our pregnancy came as a bit of a surprise to us as well. I think we only one time during a "dangerous" time where DH didn't PNP. Didn't think it would happen at all and then poof! Pregnant.
When I found out I was a mixed bag of emotions for sure. Do not feel guilty for crying...it's okay! You can not help what you feel initially and it's a big shock. Once the surprise wears off, I'm sure you will be okay!

Remember that if you're pg, you're pretty hormonal and emotional right now. So don't feel guilty for crying! I don't think you're sad, necessarily - I think you might be feeling overwhelmed, which is totally understandable and nothing to feel guilty about. You have a really, really long time to get used to the idea of a new baby and prepare for its arrival. You'll be ok. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am sure in time it will sink in but right now it hasn't. I am happy to hear of others experiences as well!

Re: All it takes is one time...
One time here too
But we had talked about it - don't know how "ready" I was when I took the test, being that I freaked out.
But let me say, @ 21+ weeks now I am more excited each day, and cannot wait to meet this little one and welcome them into our family.....
Let the shock wear off, it will be OK you will see, don't worry!!
Oh and I almost forgot - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! on your sweet surprise.

Re: All it takes is one time...
I'm sure it's confusing right now, what with so many mixed emotions over this. But luckily that's why women seem to have about 10 months of pregnancy to prepare. It'll all be ok - and just think how close your 2 children will be!!! Being that close in age I'm sure will be a challenge, but such a blessing too.

Re: All it takes is one time...
I have one of those too! My DDs are 19 months apart. It was a total shock when I found out about #2 and I cried and worried like crazy when I was pregnant with her, but it all worked out totally fine. My girls are the best of friends now and I'm so glad I had them close in age.
