All I can do is shake my head
In 2004 right before our wedding my DH's grandparents bought his sister her husband and 4 kids a house in Florida. The house is amazing. It's in south florida. It has an inground pool with a hot tub 4 bedrooms 2 baths big kitchen with an island 2 family rooms dinning room. Grandpa paid cash for it.
SIL turned around took out a mortgage on the free house and bought a suburban a range rover and a new boat.
She calls just now and says she is going to sell her house and rent a town house cause she can't afford the house  IT WAS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!
So 6 people and 2 dogs are going to live in a town house
BTW I have no problem admitting I am bitter. She got a free house my BIL who has no kids not even a girlfriend got a free house and when we got married grandpa gave us a check that bounced. He ran out of money

taxes in south flordia are 2% of your purchase price
and it sounds like she might not have the best money management skills
my brother was given a jaguar from my dad- and turn around and took a loan out on it- then goes around "pretending" he is rich and makes a ton of money (my Dad gave him the car - b/c he was suppose to give my Dad the money every month- and after 6 months and no payments- my Dad decided that he didn't want to deal with it anymore- I would have taken the car back- my Dad signs it over- he is way too nice)
but the point is- giving things to people like that - doesn't do them any good- they continue to have poor money management skills and will never learn

some people are just a waste of skin
a former friend filed bankruptcy in June and has over $400K in debt (an NO REAL ESTATE or vehicles listed) And it seems as though she is planning to run up $10K in plastic surgery bills the second her bankrupcty case is done.

i hate to say it, but with 4 kids she shouldnt have been thinking so selfishly. if she was gonna take out a mortgage, she should have put the money into some kind of interest earning account instead of buying a boat. s ucks for her, but now she's learned her lesson.

And what exactly is he to live off of That is so strange, to give away his money to the point of bouncing a check.

  I don't mean to laugh but "he ran out of money" That just cracked me up. I'm so sorry you got the short end of the stick but atleast what you have is yours and NO ONE can take it away from you or make you feel like you owe what you have to them.

ITA but would add that I doubt she's learned her lesson. Most people that act that foolishly rarely learn their lesson - it's about what other people did or didn't do for them.
