ALIMENTUM
Okay so my ped. put my DD on alimentum for reflux and sensitivity to milk protein. I have always heard that you see major differences immediately w. alimentum. Some day a week, my doc said 48 hrs.. So far I've given my DD 3 bottles and I feel like she seems worse. For those of you who have used it, did things get worse before they got better? I want to be optimistic that she's just trying to get used to it, but I have a feeling it won't work for her. If this doesn't work I don't know what to do for her anymore. I'm feeling hopeless!

Re: ALIMENTUM
Aww poor thing! I know it's so terrible to go through. I'm sorry :(. I think it got better quickly with my DD. They told me it might get better then worse and that might mean she needed Elecare. But they said it would take about a week to know. Her belly can still hurt from prior.
Is she arching when eating, spitting up, colicky gas cries? My DD still spit up a lot on it, but the arching and crying stopped when eating. She was only on axid, not zantac because she wasn't colic. Did they give your DD meds too?

Re: ALIMENTUM
my ped gave me a script for zantac but told us to try the formula first. She is still arching, grunting etc on it. I'm going to give it a day for 2 be4 meds. and if those to together don't work..should i change the medicine or formula?

ALIMENTUM
It took 2 full weeks to see a difference in DS. He was colic, on Zantac and this was formula change number 5.
Hang in there.

Re: ALIMENTUM
I would give the formula a few more days. At least the 2 days he said to give it.
I also did gas drops in every bottle and Maalox and axid in bottles 3x per day. Her bottles were like science projects. The Maalox seemed to help too. They said its a mild laxative which helps keep them going and helps reflux.

this is what the GI told us... that it could take up to 2 weeks for the old formula to get completely out of her system, but after that, if it's worse, we would have tried elecare. hang in there, I know it's the worst

Re: ALIMENTUM
how old is she? alimentum smells and tastes disgusting. My ped said we were lucky we were staring at like 2 weeks old b/c it gets harder when they older b/c it tastes so bad. So it could be her just getting used to the taste.
It did take a few days for me to notice a difference with DS.

Re: ALIMENTUM
It took DS over a month for the alimentum to help him with his milk protein allergy.
