Alarm systems

We are looking into getting a alarm system for our home, hubby is away a lot for work :( and Im going to be home by myself

Do you ladies have any recommendations? Pricing and what is included? Does it take long to install?

Any help would be grateful!

We have South Shore Alarms and pay about $20 month. I don't remember what the installation cost was (maybe $2500), but to me it's worth it. Some companies like Slomin or other big names don't charge for installation but charge about $90 a month.

We have 2 doors and all the windows downstairs, all the windows in the basement and one window upstairs all on the alarm. We also included these remotes to keep on our keyring.

It basically took a full workday for them to install it. What takes them time is finding the phone line to connect to. Installing the pieces on the doors and windows don't take as much time, but it depends on how many you need to have done. Then it takes a little bit for the testing of the system.

We did ADT. It was only $99.00 upfront, equipment and installation was free, and it's $35.99 a month with a phone line. It also took less then 3 hours to install since the system is wireless. We LOVE it. I can look for the number i called if you're interested.

We use VMS Security. I would suggest you do a search on this forum as this question comes up at least once a month and there are several recommendations. You'll find a lot of options that way.
