AJ's Alpha Projects : E is for Elevator craft

Thank god I started this a week in advance. She's been sick. Tho she's been helping - a lot of it was MOM this time.

The Elevator is a Town House cracker box with a sample cereal box as the elevator car. A stick pulls it up and down. mini clothes pin holds the stick and Popsicle sticks open and close the doors (granted there's a LOT inside you can't see to keep those doors on track and flush - mostly )

During all this we also began work on our paper mache Bee Hive. But I didn't have a balloon so we used a beach ball. Again, she helped with the first layer (took FOREVER but had fun making a mess) then I took over the last two layers to speed it along. It should be dry by Sunday. Yes, I know it looks like a globe (my hubby keeps telling me) but what can you do?

Thanks.. honestly my house is wreck. I think the clothes have been in the dryer since Wednesday. I put aside about an hour a day for her to 'help' me then another one to two hours for me two set up, clean up or work solo.

Like last night I finished up the last two layers on the paper mache. She did the first layer with me last saturday. In order for me to do that, I skipped dinner. :( Haven't done that in a LOOONG time. She ate with Daddy and came over to 'check on me'. Then she sat and nibbled on rice while I ate my dinner (very quickly) and then we sat to play memory before bed.

thank GOD she goes to bed so late. Otherwise I'm not sure we could pull this off.

Money is tight so instead of dinners out, movies out, etc we sit at home and play with crafts. I spend money at Michaels every two weeks (about $10) and it lasts us forever. I'm huge into recycling junk in the house into projects. Ironically I am not directed enough to figure out NEW stuff. Which is why i like when the teacher told me 3 letters out. Made my life easier really.

But oh my house pays for these adventures. Hubby does too as he cooks. So its a give and take. Wonder how long I can get away with this before my hubby breaks down. LOL
