Has anyone ever heard of the airline Airtran? If so, what have you heard about it. Our friends want us to fly it in April, but I am a little nervous.

Re: Airtran

We rode in it when we went to Vegas in July. Its very good, drops you right off at the terminal. I believe its $5.

Re: Airtran

You mean the Airtran Airways , correct?

Airtran is the only airline I have flown for the past 3 years since it is one of the few airlines that has flights into Penscola Airport.

Dh and I love them. We have never had a problem and the seats are somewhat rooming plus listening to free XM is awesome. It's a pretty inexpensive airline which also makes us a huge fan. I have flown them from NY, Philly, Raleigh, Pensacola and Atlanta without a problem.

My inlaws also fly them and haven't had a problem same with my parents. One time my mom missed her last connection in Atlanta due to a problem in Philly and they put her up in a very nice hotel for the night and had her home by 9am the next day. Also they supplied her with a free oneway for her trouble.

They also allow you to upgrade to business class for pretty cheap the day of the flight (this was a huge plus when I flew with my son over Thanksgiving by myself).

Also their FF program is great. I currently have enough points to fly two times for free or once with any major airline which I am holding on to for when my husband returns so we can go somewhere last minute.

You can get your seat up to 24 hours in advance online which is nice also. [

Re: Airtran

My SIL flies them from Atlanta all the time. They are fine except that she flies into Lagaurdia at night usually - maybe 10:30-11:00, and her flight is NEVER listed on the moniters and we can NEVER find an agent (the ticket counter is inevitably closed) to tell us if they arrived or not.
