Age spin off to tummy sleeping

At what age would you/did you let DC sleep on their belly?

DD is 5.5 month was rolling over until she learned to sit up now so doesn't roll over anymore. But Last night, she kept trying to roll onto her tummy in her crib, so I put her on her tummy, she fell right to sleep and only woke up once (compared to 2 - 3 times she has).

As long as she can hold her head up strongly I think it should be ok. I do always put DS on his back and he rolls himself.

Re: Age spin off to tummy sleeping

My DS was napping on his belly since he was just over 2 months old since I could watch him and we noticed he goes down well even if he was still awake, so once he started rolling over at 3.5 months i knew I had to stop swaddling him at night (g-d forbid he rolled over swaddled) so I tried putting him down at night on his tummy and he sleeps so much better but still not STTN yet but goes down still awake and when he fusses puts himself back to sleep. He is only getting up for a feeding then i put him back down on his belly, it also seems to help with his reflux the Dr said.

My dr says as long as they hold their head up 90 degrees and/or can roll over that its fine!!

Re: Age spin off to tummy sleeping

As soon as my twins were able to turn over on their own we let them - probably 5 months.
For my DD we put her on her tummy as soon as she proved she could hold her head up and turn it either way. During the day we would let her nap on the couch with us there so we could watch her. So by 2 months she was having all of her naps there. Around 4 months in the cosleeper at night we had her on her stomach. She sleeps so much better that way.
