After the convertible carseat, what next??
My almost 4 yr. old granddaughter is in a graco my ride 65. I just noticed the other day that the top of her head is just about level with the top of the seat. What type of seat would we get now? A convertible booster, that still uses a 5 point harness? Any recommendations?

She can stay in that until the tops of her ears or level with tops of the seat as long as the straps stay above her shoulders. But after that probably a harnessed booster like the graco nautilus as most children at 4.5 aren't able to sit properly in a booster 100% of the time to be safe.

This 110%
A harnessed seat that eventually changes to a booster in another year and a half to two years is your next step.
The Nautilus/Argos is a great seat. Depending on her torso length you should get to booster age in it. If she is long torso'ed though your best bet would be to look at a Britax pioneer or frontier.

Thank you so much for your responses! Glad to hear she can use this seat a while longer. My daughter is expecting a baby in apr. so maybe by the time the second baby is ready for the my ride, my granddaughter will be ready to move on to the booster.

Just wanted to post that there is a mail in rebate for the graco seats. I think it goes through the end of october if you want to consider taking advantage of that.

Just remember most car seats have expiration dates. Normal wear and tear can affect its safety and generally isn't meant to be passed on past its expiration date

Joan- please make sure that the straps are coming out from ABOVE her shoulders. The myRide doesn't have very high top harness slots. With you saying that her head is about at the top of the seat makes me think that she might have already outgrown it or she isn't going to be able to fit in the seat much longer, especially to a safe booster age.
And like Xelindrya wrote about the expiration dates, there will definitely be a time that the new baby is going to need a new seat when this one expires. The MyRide expires December 31st - 6 years after the manufacture date. If your daughter received the seat at a baby shower it's likely that there's only a year or so left on the seat since your granddaughter is 4.
Please contact me with any questions you may have about anything I wrote. I know that you're local to me and would be happy to help you and your daughter figure it all out! (I'm a certified car seat technician/installer)

Re: After the convertible carseat, what next??
Pamela, thanks for the info. My daughter and I are going to a car seat inspections in farmingdale in 2 weeks. Chris Mistron will be there. We've had seats installed by him before. Yes the straps need to be moved to the top slots. I'll have him do it that day, since the seat needs to be removed to move the straps. Thanks so much for your help. I will contact you if I have any questions. Thanks again!

Okay! You and your daughter should make sure you learn about installing the seat and not just have the Techs at the check do it for you so if something like this arises you can change it yourself or if you ever have to remove the seat for whatever reason you can correctly and safely reinstall it.
Unfortunately with her foward facing and the straps being to low it is a safety hazzard in the event of an accident.
If you'd like to meet up sooner then the Farmingdale check PM me.

I have a question. I really want to keep my kids in a harnessed booster. However they are tall 47 inches. They have the 3 in 1 from Graco. Their shoulders are below the straps. What is a good seat after this one? Or should I just go to a seatbelt booster?
