AF after surgeries(UPDATE on bottom - again)

So I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of AF. I ovulated on the day of my procedures on day 16 and today is day 28. Tomorrow I should be getting AF assuming the surgeries have not had an effect on my cycle. I had a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy D and C and tubal lavage.

I have had some light brown spotting for the past few days. I am trying to figure out if this is from surgery, or if it is the end of my cycle or just a very very very light AF that came early. If I wasn't asked to temp and chart I probably wouldnt even question it, but I am charting and temping for diagnostic purposes and not sure how to handle this chartwise if a full flow day doesnt arrive. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance.

Re: AF after surgeries

If I remember rightly I didn't get a "full" AF afterwards, not till the following cycle, but I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, so I could be wrong. I would just call NSUH tomorrow morning and ask them, they are nice and if no one is available when you call they'll call you back. Chat Icon

Re: AF after surgeries

Thanks! My temp dropped this morning but is not where it was on Day 1 of last cycle - not under the coverline yet so I may have time to wait. I will call them by the end of the week. I am also anxious because I want to start IUIs this cycle though I know it is very likely I wont be able to - my follow up is in my fertile week.

Re: AF after surgeries

Thanks. I sent you an FM.

I called them this morning. I was sort of told to keep charting on the same chart and not to start a new one. The color of my spotting is not enough to really consider a period- it is a lil ambigous. The doctor will interpret the chart when he sees it in two weeks. Then I shall adjust accordingly. This is going to make me nuts. I just want AF to come in full force so I can understand this better. TCOYF doesnt have the answer to this one.

Re: AF after surgeries

Leslie, If you remember 2 months back when I had the saline sono and a mock IVF transfer I posted about spotting at 7DPO...the spotting lasted for about 4-5 days and then I got a regular AF...

Since the mid cycle spotting (or after O) never happens to me I know that it had to be the procedures that triggered it...you should get your regular AF any day.....

I am now 13 days DPO. My spotting is now dark brown and clumpy - moreso than it has been for the past few days - TMI Im so sorry but Im really flustered. I never had midcycle spotting EVER so I attribute this to either surgery or a changing cycle. If it is followed by a full red flow, then I would know what to do. But so far, not yet. Isnt it weird to actually WANT a period? I just want to get things going. I could lose another TTC cycle because my follow up will be one month after surgery during my fertile week. That would bum me out thought I know my body needs to be ready. Im rambling. Im sorry.

She is here in all of her glory. I never thought I would be so excited to see her. I guess the surgery didnot have an effect on my cycle too much after all. Thanks for all of your thoughts and opinions. I need to be more patient with myself. I am simply anxious about the whole thing.

Re: AF after surgeries(UPDATE on bottom)

Thanks so much. I am calling Dr. Rosenfeld's office back tomorrow to see if by any chance we should be TTC this month whether by IUI or natually. My body has to be ready for this.

Re: AF after surgeries(UPDATE on bottom)

Update #2

I called Dr. Rosenfeld's office again this morning and they called me back to tell me I should come in next week to do my follow up. This is instead of the following week- which is my fertile week - so we can plan a course of action. He will be able to tell me if we are ready to start TTC again or if we should wait another cycle. I am excited.
