Advice on Caregiver
I will be home on vacation until Jan 5th so the girls are only going to their caregiver Monday and Tuesday so I can get last minute shopping done. I told DH that I was going to give the sitter a cash bonus of full salary for Baby only and gifts from the kids. He said No give her all cash --- full salary for both kids.
I think with the economy that its a bad idea--they just laid off from his job so I am being very cautious this year. I thought giving her full salary the baby and giving her gifts and her children gifts would suffice (and the kids she takes care of) Plus did I mention I still have to pay for the week and a half I am keeping the girls home--if you were a caregiver wouldnt that be enough????
I know he wants to go the extra mile but I truely dont think he realizes that finances are not the same as last year.....

Re: Advice on Caregiver
I would opt for the least expensive option for you. Given the layoff, I'm sure she would understand.
If you have to give notice, you may want to decide if they're going back in January as soon as possible.

He is still working but they did massive layoffs in his department.
I am glad someone agrees with me lol. We love her to bits but the layoff scare was too close for comfort.

Completely understandable!!! The majority of bonuses in all occupations are getting slashed I'm sure. It's still extremely generous of you no matter how you look at it, and I'm sure appreciated.

Re: Advice on Caregiver
The part that convinced me was the fact that she is getting paid for the week and a half off. So IMO no-you do not have to give her full salary. I think some cash and a gift is plenty.

That's standard for daycares. But you should feel free to call her & tell her that you'll be dropping them off in case you want to return stuff, etc.

I think you misunderstood me lol
They are still going back--we are just going to snuggle with Daddy since he is off too till the New year too.
I thought it over and the cash and gifts are generous--I tend to be over generous and have been trying to rein it in due to the economy but I love her so much that she is the last person I want to slight KWIM so I allowed DH to make me feel bad but after seeing that you guys understand I realize I am doing plenty. I think she will be relieved to hear my tiny terror is not coming for two weeks--that in itself is a bonus
