Advice for My Sister

My sister plans to go back to school full time and leave her job. She's starting with the upcoming summer session. She wants to tell her boss now that she's leaving at the end of May instead of giving two weeks notice. She seems to be very close with her boss, but I'm not sure she should tell her something like that...it could work to her disadvantage. Its a huge corporation and based on my own corporate experiences, I don't think its such a good idea. What do you guys think?

Re: Advice for My Sister

If she's very close to her boss, I would tell him. This way her boss can hire a replacement and she can train him/her.

Maybe the boss should know but not the corporate beaurocrats.

I just worry that the boss would actually be obligated to tell the higher ups and HR. She hasnt been there that long, I just dont know how well she really knows the boss, and how close they really are.

Re: Advice for My Sister

Maybe she should wait another month or so - she's still giving a full's months notice, and for some reason, if it backfired and they got rid of her right away, she'd only lose out on a month of work instead of twoChat Icon

Re: Advice for My Sister

How about if she gave three week's notice?

She always runs the risk that the company could ask her to leave the day she gives notice.
