advice for bathroom decoration redo
we are going to be re-do'ing our master bathroom. i'm not sure of the exact size, but it's decent. we ordered our vanity - which is a 6ft double sink/double medicine cabinet. it's a dark espresso brown with a solid cream color countertop. i've been looking at various tile stores for a while now, and wanted to pick tile first - but am having such a hard time and the vanity i was SURE of. i originally wanted to do a chocolate brown floor, with cream colored tile halfway up the walls (full tile in the shower) with a brownish glass mosaic tile border around the entire bathroom. there will be crown molding at the top. i also want to do my tub and toilet in cream, to match my counter top. my question is - will it be too much cream, to have the wall tile, as well as fixtures and counter top? and what color then, should i paint the top half of the walls? a lady at one of the tile places suggest i do the brown tile on the wall and cream on the floor - but such a light color on the floor is not practical to me, with hair, makeup and 2 shedding dogs. i have been stressing for months now - i am so afraid to make a mistake. it's not a coat of paint that if i don't like it, i can paint over. this is a 15-20k project that i can not envision in my head, no matter how many pictures i scour. please help!!

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
do you have any pics of the things your purchased or plan on purchasing so we can envision what you are planning?
But no, I dont think its too much cream. I wouldnt do cream on the top of the walls but you can add color there, in the linens and shower curtain.

I don't think it's too much cream. I love all the pics that eddiesmommy posted, especially the blue walls on the top half. Very spa like if that is what you are going for. I think the brown tile on the floor will look very elegant. Can't wait to see it done, it's going to be gorgeous.

I think the brown floor with the cream walls/accessories will look beautiful. Defnitely not too much cream or brown.
I would wait on the paint until everything is installed and you can look at swatches.

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
I do think it's too much cream...
I would do the choc brown tiles on the floor and halfway up the walls.... I have that in my half bath with a brown glass border:
Then in the shower - instead of doing brown all the way up - I would do cream on just the top half.
With a choc brown design in the middle. We have all green in our master - see on the top half - we have the smaller tiles? I would do your cream in the smaller tiles but have the tile guy place them diagonally (I wish we had done that) - and then do a square choc design in the middle (where we have the little tiles), and then another glass mosaic border up top.

I don't have any advice for you in regards to tiles and colors, but I wanted to advise you on your lighting in the bathroom. Make sure you have plenty of it. . . I just renovated my bathroom in the master and I didn't keep that in miind, now my shower stall is so dark. I should have included recessed lighting above the shower.
HTH, and good luck with the renovations!

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
this is a picture of my vanity, only the hardware is brushed nickel pulls and like i mentioned earlier, the counter top is a solid cream color.
eddiesmommy - i actually saw a lot of the pics you posted, when i was doing searches on here. i LOVE the 1st picture most of all. in my head i have the paint being a "neutral" color, be it cream or brown of some sort - as opposed to the blue or green.
only thing i guess i feel nervous about is i keep seeing pictures of the walls just being painted or wainscotting as opposed to tile... i haven't been able to find too much inspiration in pictures with tile on the bottom half of the walls. for example, in all the pics eddiesmommy posted - NONE of the walls have tile on them.
jenn, your bathroom is very pretty and i did think about doing the floor and halfwall all chocolate brown but because of the size of the bathroom, i think it's just too much of the same thing.

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
this is one of the tiles i was looking at... hard to get the real feel of it online. the cream color is creamier in person, not pinkish - and has some tan/brown running through it. the tiles are from the same line so it's the same design, just different colors. or i was thinking maybe the brown tile on the floor (12x12) with a cream/beige subway tile on the wall?

thank you... i plan on doing either 2 or 3 sconces or a lighting fixture above each medicine cabinet and recessed lighting in the shower.

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
I found the Google search you are looking for. I hope these images give you some inspiration for your bathroom. How big is your bathroom?
Googled "Bathroom half wall tile"
maybe something like this for your shower/tub
Some Inspiration for you
Subway Tile
I know it doesn't have the full half wall all around the bathroom, but you get the idea.
Check out this website, lots of brown & cream/white inspiration (not all bathrooms though)
Hope this helsp you in some way. GL making your decision.

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
thank u for all the pics, jen. that mosaic wall in the 4th picture i think it is - omg our bathroom is about 7x11
eta - i took a sample of that tile i posted to consumer's today, where i ordered my vanity and i love it next to one another. do you think i should flip it around and go with cream on the floor and brown on the half wall? or keep my original plan of brown on the floor, cream on the wall and find a glass mosaic tile in brown to line the bathroom with?

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
that mosiac is really nice.
I would do the brown on the floor and the cream on the walls. I think if you did the brown on the walls, you wouldn't be able to really see your gorgeous vanity. You know what I mean? The vanity would blend into the wall.
Look at my bathroom, but try to picture brown on the floor. With my beige half way up the wall, you are able to see the dark vanity. I hope that makes sense.
Maybe you can do some brown glass tiles as a stripe through the cream tiles.

Re: advice for bathroom decoration redo
thank you for all your help, advice and inspiration! i ordered my tile today, it will be 12x12 chocolate brown on the floor (chocolate grout) with 6x24 brick pattern cream on the half wall (biscut grout). dark brown glass (plain not marble or crackle or anything) "mosaic" tile as a border around the top of the halfwall, with a brown pencil trim on top (instead of bullnose) and then a second border of glass mosaic higher up in the shower. i will have the trim to my window, the door and the crown molding painted cream and as far as the top of the walls... still not a clue as far as color, but i'll get there. my counter top is a biscut color and i was told that it will match american standard's linen color or kohler's biscut color as close as i am gonna get. any recs for tub/toilet would be greatly appreciated. also recs for paint color in BM in a cream that might match those fixtures if anyone is familiar? also very dumb question but my handles on my vanity are brushed nickel. some faucets are not available in that finish... is stainless steel the same thing? thanks!!!
