Acorn Vent!!!!!

My neighbor has a huge tree in their backyard and it over looks part of our deck (which is great because we get shade and sun on both sides), but there are Acorns all over the place and I hear them slamming on our deck all night.

For those that know about trees, gardening, etc.., how long does this usually last???

This season - it's started early and will end late due to the abnormal temps and the leaves not changing as quickly as they normally do.

I have similiar issues and based on what I see on the trees - this will last until mid-Nov.

Do you have any umbrellas outside to sit under?


I have a huge patio set with an Umbrella so we have some protection from it, but my heart was in my throat thinking about it and hearing them slam on the deck around us. What can you do though, It's the fall which I love and it's a temporary problem that is out of my control I guess. It's just soooo loud and there are 100's of them.

I'm sorry Bari, but I saw this post and I couldn't help but laugh. Between leaves and acorns this time of the year can be a pain to clean up after. I hope they aren't keeping you up at night.

I feel your pain, we hear them all night falling on our deck right outside our bedroom. Nothing like being freaked out over loud noises, just to realize it's the acorns!!!!

Not only that but our dog likes to eat them after they've fallen, she loves them!!

We have a ton of acorns as well. We hear them fall on the deck all of the time. I am pretty used to the noise now.

An acorn hit my dog while he was out for a walk and also my mother in law on the head. I am afraid to go outside in the backyard. I hear them all night hitting the roof of the house and then the squirrels running on the roof with them, I cant wait for it to end.

Jen, don't worry I am laughing my azz off also about this. I am in the Insurance Industry and all I think about is one of these falling and poking an eye out!

We have two oak trees in our backyard. DH tells me he wants hazard pay when he goes to cut the lawn. He always ends up getting hit on the head a few times.

They are annoying, especially raking them up.
