acne/ttc
girls im struggling with the worst acne ive ever seen
it will now be 12 months off bcp and each day my skin gets worse and worse
im not sure if its the stress of ttc coupled with not having the hormones from the BCP to keep them at bay.
does anyone know any good meds to take/apply???
its so bad i hate leaving the house, and i cant look people in the face

Re: acne/ttc
I am using retin a cream prescribed by my dermatologist. I will have to stop it if I do get pregnant but it's working great for me right now. I'm hoping pregnancy hormones will improve my skin if I ever do get a BFP.
Also, I can highly recommend Oil of Olay gentle foaming cleanser. I have been using it twice a day for the last few months and I see an even bigger improvement since I started.

Re: acne/ttc
I have tried everything in the book and believe it or not what has been working is the Clean n Clear Orange Burst. I also try to gently expoliate my skin once a week and apply lots of moisturizer. Good luck HTH.

Re: acne/ttc
Some birthcontrols actually help with acne. I took one ( i forget the name ) and it helped control it...I didnt break out too much but have started to use proactive....that seems to help me

Re: acne/ttc
i can totally relate
About 6 months ago i started to get red splotchy areas on one of my cheeks - then acne started popping up there. I went to my dermatologist and turns out i have rosacea Problem is, the treatment for it is Tetracyline, which you cannot take if your are ttc'ing. i've had a cream i've been using instead for about 2 months... but honestly, its done nothing for me.
I'm so bummed because it seems to be getting worse and worse and spreading now to my chin and other parts of my face But i can't risk taking any of the drugs that they'd prescribe to clear it up. The dermatologist said i basically have to suck it up until im not ttc'ing or not pregnant

I feel your pain. Lately I've noticed I have these 2 pesty pimples that don't want to go away, tried everything, nothing really helps, but Clean and Clear spot treatment minimized the redness. Hopefully you find something to help.

Re: acne/ttc
do you have PCOS?
the same thing happened to me after going off BCP once the PCOS hormones kicked in. unfortunately if its hormonally based theres nothing a cream will do. i used products with 10% benzoyl peroxide. my dermatologist said only over-the-counter washes are safe during TTC, no pills or other meds. also for hormonal acne regular dermatalogical meds dont really do anything.
what ultimately helped me was managing the PCOS symptoms and the hormone levels through treatment which helped for TTC. oddly enough getting pregnant helped too - my skin has been very clear since my BFP.

Re: acne/ttc
When I went off the pill, I started having trouble with acne, also.
I went for Proactive, and it actually cleared it up within a few weeks. My skin is great now. Its a little pricey, but it works!

flowerwife, i have thought the same but i ovulate on my own (confirmed by temping and u/s) and have regular cycles.
ive been told i have had a cyst or two after ovulation - remnants from follicles i think.
i asked my RE's PA, and she said that my testosterone levels were normal ..and that i am not pcos. so i dont know.
what are your thoughts?
