Ackkk! Too Much Weight!

Okay, I stepped on the scale this morning, and I have gained 3 pounds in 1 week! Not good!

Can't say I'm completely surprised. It was my birthday on Monday, so I had a couple rich dinners around then, plus DH bought me an ice cream cake. And with all the hot, stormy weather, I haven't been getting my usual exercise. Plus, we're moving, busy, and eating more take out than usual.

Oh well--guess I'll have to really watch it now.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. one week i gained 4 pounds, and it ended up just being a major growth spurt. just because it happened one week doesn't mean you'll continue to grow at that pace. i slowed down after that to about a 1/2-1 pound a week.

Re: Ackkk! Too Much Weight!

it has been crazy hot and humid the last few days also - so you are probably retaining water too!

don't worry about it!

Re: Ackkk! Too Much Weight!

I'll make you feel better here... about two weeks ago I gained 6 pounds in less than a week. Meanwhile all along I've gained between 0-2 lbs a week. Like the pp said, you have growth spurts and it happens. After the 6 lbs, I only gained 3 over the next 2 weeks. Unless the doctor is concerned, try not to focus on it too much! (Easier said... I know!!!)

hanging in there... getting accustomed to bed rest, and working out ways that i can do some interesting work from home. also focusing my eye on the prize - it's the only way i am going to get through these weeks!!!

Re: Ackkk! Too Much Weight!

I have a big 2 week period where I gained like 4 lbs a week. Then it kinda just stopped and I havent gained more than 1/2 lb in the last 2 weeks.

Re: Ackkk! Too Much Weight!

Thanks for your words!

The last few weeks were kind of quiet, no more than a pound a week, some weeks less. This happened to me about a month ago though, that time I gained 4 lbs. in one week.

I guess I just don't want to gain so much weight that it's unhealthy for me or the baby. I gained a fair amount in the first trimester, so I guess that makes me a little more concerned about weight gain throughout.

Oh well. I guess there isn't much to do now except cut down on the take out, and start eating fruit at night instead of ice cream cake!

I know it can be shocking, I have been there!

I find that 'food swings' do result in 'weight gain' but as long as its not too excessive I try not to worry about it.

I do also find that some days - even now - I have my regular appetite and others I am constantly ravenous.. I think we will start to experience that more now that we are entering our THIRD trimester!

totally agree with this - some days are MUCH hungrier than others. i think you just have to go with the flow and do what your body tells you...

So when my body is telling me I want ice cream I should have itChat Icon

Just kidding! I know what you're saying--some days I am very hungry, others not so much. Mainly I think I need to watch rich, fatty foods and sweets. Sweets have been a BIG temptation to me during this pregnancy, so I try to eat fruit instead, but it doesn't always do the trick.
