Acid reflux infants-what do you feed and avoid

Wow, my DD just has it rough...last night she was up for 3 straight hours crying and wanted to sit up to sleep. She is a very active baby and only sleeps on her tummy so i cant elevate the mattress anymore..she is 8 months old...any tips on what baby foods to avoid and what works well for your child or did if they are older now...she is hiccuping alot, has a raspy voice and coughs like crazy sometimes...seems like reflux to me again..she was diagnosed with GERD and severe milk protein allergy..

She is thriving well but i feel like i dont know what the heck is causing it anymore or what to do. I am giving her axid again and mylanta as needed. Nothing seems to really help. She has 4 teeth that just cut on top and maybe one still pushing through, that doesnt help either!!!

How old is you DC? Nothing worked for my DS except Prevacid. We tried the other stuff, but it only improved his reflux ever so slightly. Is your DC breastfed or on formula?

She is 8 months and on Neocate due to her severe milk allergy. I am trying to figure the baby foods out...it is tough.

I'm pretty sure the gerber cereal has soy in it. Does she also have a soy allergy or just milk? My DD had a milk allergy and there are sooo many foods with milk in it. Most gerber teething biscuits, cookies, snacks and even some of the puffs have milk in it.

If you need any help let me know. I'm well versed in the milk free foods!!!

eta: I shopped in the organics and whole/natural food stores alot for her stuff.

Weight watchers wheat break is milk free

Lots of fruits and veggies

peanut butter or tofutti cream cheese with jelly

tofutti has a pizza that's pretty good

annies breakfast burritos (make sure it says milk free, some do have milk)

Arrowroot teething cookies (light blue box)

i'll think of more...

Banquet chicken strips not the nuggets (red bag)

Whole Soy & Co yogurt

Vans Waffles (some have milk so becareful you get the right box)

as w

i wonder if i should start feeding her table food and go that route..she doesnt seem ready..she is still getting used to the texture. Yeah, i feed her beechnut cereal as i avoid soy too! No fun.

well my dd wasn't allergic to soy so scratch my list!!

but most of the regular straight jarred veggies and fruit are fine, even Gerber. THe dessert ones usually have milk or soy. Not sure about the meats and soy, but they were milk free. The pasta ones generally have milk

Try some fresh fruit cut up small. Some pieces of bread (check for soy) Small pieces of the veggie cheese (check for soy), mashed up sweet potatoes or regular potatoes.

DS is actually still on Elecare. We just make sure we avoid anything acidic (tomatoes, citrus, etc). And we try to see how he reacts to new things. If the reflux seems bad after something new or specific we avoid it for a bit and maybe try it later depending on what it is. We also have to watch the amount of food he eats at any time. We do smaller, more frequent meals. That definitely helps his reflux. HTH Chat Icon
