? about a few NYC restaurants. . .

We are going to see the Wedding Singer Friday night. I made a few online reservations for dinner- Cara Mia, Bar Americain and Ruth's Chris.

In regards to the listed restaurants, if you have been to any of them, can you give me your review?

Also, if you have been to Ruth's Chris in the city, can you give me an idea of what a bill might be for 2 people? Since they do not post prices on their website, we would just like a ball park idea of cost . . . .

TIA!

Ruth Chris will depend on what you get. We usually get the porterhouse for 2, mashed potatoes. and creamed spinach. Plus an appetizer and some drinks. That will run around $175.

I really want to try Bar Americain. I have heard some good things about it.

Re: ? about a few NYC restaurants. . .

that's hard b/c they are all so different

of the three, you will by far have the overall best experience at Ruths Chris...and it will by far be the most expensive! depending on if you have wine, appetizers, etc. it could be $200/couple

Cara Mia isn't "wow" but it is pretty good Italian - it's a small place, you will be in and out - and its way more affordable

I haven't personally been to Bar American

Bar Amercain is pricey, just as much as a steak house like Ruth Chris. It's good but definitely spicey. Nice atmosphere though and good food.

ETA: FM me if you have questions bc ive been to all but cara mia

Thanks for your replies. We have reservations at all 3, so I guess whatever we decide on as dinner approaches will be it. Right now we are leaning toward Bar Americain.

I was taken to Bar Americain back in March before going to see Jersey Boys. It was a preset menu with 3 choices for apps, entrees and desserts (it was a group dinner and show night set up for our office) we were sitting up on the second floor overlooking the restaurant. Everyone loved it the food was very good. I don't think anyone had anything they didn't enjoy.

I like the food at Cara Mia, but it is very small...and the last time I went I felt like I was sitting with the people at the table next to me. But it is affordable, and the food is good, just pretty cramped.

I have never been to Cara Mia but between Ruth's Chris and Bar Americain - I would choose Bar Americain. Both are really good, but you can go to Ruth's Chris on LI.... Bar Americain has more of a city feel.

I work in the area and have been to all 3. Of the three I would recommend Bar Americain.

You can go to Ruth's Chris anywhere, even Long Island. There are lots of good steakhouses in the city and in my opinion many are better than Ruth's Chris considering the amount you are spending.

I agree with the other posters on Cara Mia regarding the size and if you are considering Cara Mia you may also want to consider Becco, which is really good.

Re: ? about a few NYC restaurants. . .

We went to Ruth Chris' in White Plains and it was about $180 for the both of us but VERY WELL WORTH IT. You can do cheaper, we ordered appetizers and DH ordered something wildly expensive.
Oh nevermind you are going to Bar Americain (which I just read before, duh)
