A work in progress (house related)
In March, we bought a foreclosure. Well, it's been a few months and we have finally moved in. The place still needs a lot of work, furniture and décor, but it is coming along.
I wanted to post some pictures for you all! There are pros and cons to buying a foreclosure, for sure. For US, it has worked out. If you have time and patience, you can totally get a great house for your money. We paid about 40% less than the house was appraised. Of course we have needed to dump a ton of money back into it to get it back to it’s potential, but we still paid and spent less than if we would have bought a perfect house that needed nothing.
I'll post more pics when the place is completed if you'd like.
Enjoy!

love love love how you are fixing it up! part of me loves the idea of fixing something up and making it your own - seems so much more rewarding than buying new construction....

THANK YOU!
We did SO much work & we still have a lot to do! I need to hit the lottery The last owners just didn't care for the old girl. And they took everything when they left. And she was only built in 2001!
So far, we...
Replaced front door
Replaced chewed spindles (from a very big dog!)
Replaced chewed stairs (same darn dog!)
Replaced kitchen sink
Install granite in kitchen
replaced garbage disposal
replaced rotten wood under kitchen sink
installed new faucet in 1/2 bath
replace 4 bathroom light fixtures (there were none)
replace 3 bathroom mirrors (none)
replace 5 bedroom doors (they were gone too)
paint entire interior
power wash exterior
rip up carpeting
replace carpeting in master bed & playroom
remove 2 satellite dishes
refinish hardwoods on 1st floor, stairs & 2nd fl hallway
remove and rearrange kitchen cabinets
remove air conditioner from master bed wall, patch hole
replaced the mailbox
Repaired handrails on front porch
Replace deck with Trex
bought every appliances (there were none)
replace all tissue holders, towel bars, etc (none)
replace all light switches (they took those too!)
replace dining room lighting
replace kicthen lighting
we still need to replace the central AC Compressor (yeah, they took that too), we need landscaping, driveway repaving, gutters, furniture, and possibly some roof repairs. Sobbing....
BUT - we have a house!!!!

Re: A work in progress (house related)
we'v been having a hard time finding a place down in florida....our agent is going to check out a bank owned property for us today....i have no idea how bad its going to be inside....but if we could get it for the right price it could be worth it - its just factoring in all the expenses of making it up to par vs the cost of the property....its scary!! especially after seeing your list
i dont know, it seems fun to us - to be able to restore a place and to make it our own.....i know it's probably stressful though but im sure its worth it in the end....
you really got a great place! and its looking really good!

You did a great job so far. Love how Ella's rooms were so bright and cheery. A big contrast to before. Can't wait to see more pics.
